Mass Notification Solutions

Why BCG?

BCG has expertise in developing and deploying large-scale, high-capacity, high-availability custom mass notification solutions. While we specialize in custom installations, we can also provide hosted solutions for customers who do not require, or cannot afford, the infrastructure necessary to support large-volume mass notification. Our unique experience in creating custom interfaces & applications, integrating with third-party systems, and delivering cutting edge standards-based solutions are just a few of the things that set us apart from the cadre of off-the-shelf solution providers.

Why a Custom Solution?

While a custom solution might not be required by every customer, we recommend a custom engineered solution to those entities who meet the following criteria:

  • Require the ability to send messages to a very large number of users (hundreds-of-thousands to millions)
  • Require guaranteed dedicated access (can't depend upon a hosted solution that shares distribution gateways with other customers)
  • Government emergency management agencies responsible for timely delivery of critical warnings and alerts
  • Require the ability to routinely send a high number of messages while minimizing per message delivery costs
  • Require ability to integrate with custom messaging gateways (IP phones, public address, variable message signs, satellite, etc.)
  • Require ability to integrate with 3rd party information systems
  • Require ability to integrate with public information web sites
  • Require the ability to automate message dissemination (e.g., traffic alerts, NWS alerts, etc.)

Why a Hosted Solution?

  • No required infrastructure and associated costs [servers, gateways, telco connections, etc.]
  • Willing to trade off dedicated access and messaging speed for lower infrastructure costs
  • Generally need to send messages to a smaller number of users (hundreds, thousands, tens-of-thousands)
  • Send minimal number of messages and willing to pay a higher per-message delivery cost
  • Basic notification services are sufficient and there is no need for sophisticated integration with existing data systems, web sites, or communication gateways

Please contact BCG to discuss your project requirements and see how we can help you craft a solution to meet your needs.

CASE Study:

Problem: New York State required a cost-effective solution for quickly providing emergency mass notifications to the 20 million residents of the state.

Solution: New York State partnered with BCG to develop and implement a first-of-its kind public warning system. BCG worked with state IT staff, 3rd party vendors, and it's own engineering staff to design, develop, and deploy a web-based application for the dissemination of emergency information. The award winning solution, NY-ALERT, is unique in that it is fully CAP-compliant, can be used by any emergency manager in the state for message initiation, and supports public subscription, reverse 9-1-1, and private notification groups. Virtually any messaging gateway is supported including email, SMS, Emergency Activation System (EAS), cellular broadcasting, fax, voice phone calls, and many others. This high-availability, high-capacity system provides New York State with the ability to send thousands of daily messages at a fraction of the cost that would otherwise be incurred by a hosted solution. And since NY-ALERT was designed to meet the highest throughput standards, emergency managers can be confident that their messages are delivered in a timely manner during an emergency.
