New PC22x8 Radar Emulator
Buffalo Computer Graphics (BCG) Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of another radar emulation product to our family of Radar Simulators. BCG has completed the emulation of the FurunoTM FAR22X8 radar – we are calling PC22x8. The FAR22X8 is the current commercial radar system delivered by Furuno for larger vessels. It replace the popular FAR21X7 that BCG also supports through emulation. Our PC22x8 provides the operator with same user interface, including color schemes, function controls and menu selections, as the real radar display. PC22x8 utilizes the same simulation engine as all of BCG’s radar simulation products, which results in a powerful training tool used to familiarize a student with the use of this ARPA radar for ship navigation and collision avoidance training. The radar image incorporates realistic simulation of landmass, targets, precipitation returns, sea clutter and other effects seen on a real radar. S-Band and X-Band radar simulation is also supported through a virtual interswitch.

Some unique simulation features that incorporated into PC22x8 are the zoom window that allows the user to zoom in and see a specific area of their radar screen in a separate window and the ability to send and receive AIS text messages in the same manner as with the real radar. The other software features include full Automated Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA), dual Electronic Bearing Lines & Variable Range Markers (EBL & VRM), video controls, multiple presentation modes, graphics capabilities, Automated Information System (AIS) functionality, and range scaling. For ARPA support, PC22x8 provides target acquisition & tracking, leading vectors & history trails, and trial maneuvers.
